Management of the Digital Global Unit's Portfolio, the IT portfolio of the EDP Group.Working closely with the IT Responsibles from each of the Business Units of the whole EDP Group in order to budget, plan, monitor, control and report to the board the hundreds of initiatives that constitute EDP's IT Portfolio, managed by the Digital Global Unit, an EDP corporate department, responsible for Digital and IT.Budget Planning, Cost Benefit Analysis, Strategic Alignment, Digitalization, Waterfall and Agile development, Capacity Management, Change Control Management are perhaps the main areas part of this role.Aditionally, developed and improved the portfolio management process, acompanying the transition from the traditional waterfall development, to the agile world.

It was the start of my relationship with EDP, more precisely in the DSI Unit.The role was always in a Project Manager Officer capacity, however the scope changed throughout the experience. It started as a pure monitorization and reporting of the IT portfolio performance but quickly expanded to directly support several initiatives that needed a more professional management approach.Due to my experience as a trainer/teacher, I also had the opportunity to develop the contents and perform the training of the new version of the Project Management process.

Project Manager of the online project Quest 4K (short for Quest for Knowledge), the Online math adventure game (www.quest4k.com)A private initiative financed and managed between a group of close friends, we tried to explore gamification applied to learning, and bring it up to both the private and public sector as an external, supplemental tool to help with the motivation and self-learning of the students.The concept targeted all years, since first grades up to high school and involved a fantasy world of magic where you needed math to create spells. Each week there was a short story where students had challenges (exercises) that they had to overcome. A competition was also in place and by the end of the year the students with the most points competed in a final and won prizes. This project was nationwide, had a media presence in both radio and TV and we also promoted directly in schools, with the teachers.

Working with ENTRAJUDA as a Project Manager, both in IT projects as well as non-profit management. After having gathered experience from the non-profit sector in Ireland I returned to Portugal and looked for a way to share that experience. I found Entrajuda, an organization whose main mission is to help bridge between the non-profit and the profit world. Two main initiatives worth mentioning: Bolsa do Voluntariado and Volunteerbook.Bolsa do Voluntariado was a portal that already existed and but was needing a serious revamp. Facebook was as its highest in terms of hype so the strategy was also to have a presence on that social network. Volunteerbok was then created as a means to share and promote the volunteering experience from hundreds of volunteers.2012 was the European Year of Volunteering so I also had the opportunity to write a proposal, submit it and win financing for both of these projects, in the European Union. My time in Entrajuda also gave me some experience with working with the media which was extremely useful on my next adventure: Quest4K

Working with Volunteering Ireland as a Consultant Project Manager, in a volunteer capacity.Between 2009 and 2010 I decided to take a break from the profit sector and headed to Ireland where I got myself involved in different capacities with several non-profits.It was my introduction to the sector, allowed me to better understand the challenges and mission of organizations in this area. With Volunteering Ireland I involved myself almost full time, a way to give back through my working experience. I was able to understand how project management was a much needed discipline in this sector, in order to take the most out of the constrained budgets these organizations operate under. This one in particular was developing a volunteer portal, a sort of "job portal" but applied to volunteering. I helped the project manager in a sort of project management officer capacity and I also had the opportunity to develop a small introductory course of project management applied to non-profits.
