Manage day-to-day operation of the Burn Center consisting of 14 acuity adjustable beds (intensive care or step-down) and a burn emergency room, the Trauma Intensive Care Unit (TICU) consisting of 22 intensive care beds, and the General Intensive Care Unit (GICU) consisting of 18 intensive care beds (total 200 direct reports).Manage three wound ostomy care nurses who have organization-wide responsibilities for the identification and care of all pressure wounds and ostomies. Develop and implement a bundled approach of pressure injury prevention products to decrease hospital-acquired pressure injuries.Maintain Joint Commission standards, enforce hospital policy, and develop and implement the yearly budget for the Burn Center, GICU and TICU. Coordinate training and implementation of a peer-led support group for burn survivors. Participate on key hospital committees including Infection Prevention, Value Analysis, Change Control Management, Nursing Computer Resolution, Ethics Committee, and Nurse Manager Council. Chair the organization-wide Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infection (CLABSI) Committee. Co-Chair the organization-wide Hand Hygiene Committee.Conduct presentations on burn care and fire safety for laypersons, first responders, and medical personnel across three states.Coordinate Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) classes throughout the region across three states.Research, develop, educate and implement a new program, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) for the burn and trauma services.Assist with development and implementation of a stress relief program to prevent compassion fatigue among team members.Prepare for successful Burn Center Verification (2012) and re-verification (2016).Develop unit specific goals based on quality, people, finances and new growth.Assist with implementation of nurse residency program.Coordinate Designated Education Unit (adjunct faculty) for the University of Memphis nursing students at Regional One Health.

Screen and enroll pediatric subjects for a clinical research study under an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE).Educate and interact with pediatric patients and their families concerning burn care and research study.Review and enforce regulatory compliance, both Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Review and coordinate reporting of Adverse Events to IRB and FDA.Assist in surgery.Perform protocol dressing changes.Complete case report forms.Coordinate wound care and follow-up care for subjects.Coordinate all aspects of a third party audit of the study. Assist in the redesign of protocol and case report forms.Assist with development of Corrective Action Plan in response to 483 and subsequent audit.Educate new employees on study specifics.Educate hospital staff on study and regulatory compliance.

Assist with the reorganization of the physician peer review process to be more efficient and effective. Research and analyze chart data and interview members of the medical team for sentinel event review. Prepare documents required for sentinel event reviews according to hospital policies and Joint Commission requirements. Review cardiopulmonary resuscitation documentation and present cumulative data to the cardiopulmonary resuscitation committee. Lead the Joint Commission tracer team in weekly clinical tracers to evaluate the readiness of the hospital for Joint Commission survey. Assist with all aspects of Joint Commission readiness and survey process. Participate in all regulatory visits of Joint Commission and the state of Tennessee. Assist with numerous medical staff committees including Patient Care Committee, Blue Alert Committee, Provision of Care, and Operating Room Committee. Assist with policy preparation including moderate sedation. Conduct quality care reviews for all medical services. Manage the incident database including administration of system, review of incidents and reporting of cumulative data on core topics such as falls and skin integrity. Provide clinical leadership for department. Assist with centers of excellence preparation. Provide education for hospital-wide orientation of incident reports and sentinel events.
