I am a charity law specialist in the Charities Team at Charles Russel Speechlys LLP, which is a full service law firm with UK offices in Cheltenham, London and Guildford. I have extensive experience in advising both incorporated and unincorporated charities on a wide range of matters. These include: Advising on changes to governing documents, including applying to the Charity Commission for a Scheme where required; advising on governance issues such as conflicts of interest and the delegation of powers; advising on the appropriate structuring of arrangements between a charity and its trading subsidiary, taking into account both charity law and tax issues; advising on mergers and collaborative arrangements between charities on a particular project. I act as the Secretary to several grant-making charities, and can advise on charity law issues relating to the administration of grant-making charities, including grant-making policies, grant conditions and investment powers.I am an active member of the Charity Law Association.
