Penny is a senior executive who has worked with some of Australia’s leading health, research and education brands. She has extensive campaign, reputation, communication and stakeholder engagement experience and a deep commitment to health and research promotion. Penny originally trained as a scientist, with specialities in genetics and zoology, before moving into journalism. She was the science reporter at The Age for four years before transitioning into science and research communication in the early 2000s.For the past 20 years Penny has been responsible for establishing strategic approaches to communications, marketing and fundraising that deliver significant growth in stakeholder engagement, brand awareness and income generation. Penny has received industry awards for fundraising and communication campaigns in research and agriculture. In 2011 she created the award-winning Discoveries Need Dollars campaign to protect medical research funding in Australia. The campaign was integral to the Australian Government’s decision in 2014 to announce a $20 billion Medical Research Future Fund.Penny is passionate about creating environments where organisations and people can succeed. Core to this is building high-performing teams with a focus on continuous improvement.
