Glucox Biotech, a startup Biotech-company mainly focused on insulin-resistance. The primary goal of Glucox Biotech AB, a Swedish research company based in Stockholm, is to develop clinically applicable therapeutics for treatment of type 2 diabetes and diabetic complications. The idea behind Glucox Biotech’s diabetes therapies is to reduce oxidative stress by preventing the intracellular formation of reactive oxygen species and thus improve blood glycemic control and also decrease the critical risks and delay progression of complications in type 2 patients. Glucox Biotech owns several patents covering the exclusive rights to develop pharmaceutical substances for treating insulin resistance and diabetes on the basis of reducing reactive oxygen species produces by NAD(P)H-oxidase (NOX4).

Preparation of IND

Alligator Bioscience AB, a Swedish biotech company based on the DNA recombination technology (FINDTM), for the optimization of protein functionality, with focus to improve protein therapeutics.

When working at the patent department of Pharmacia, I performed, prior art investigations and assessments, assessments of new ideas (patentability), draft answers to communications from patent offices (US, EPO, AU and CA), and assessments of invalidation. Most of my assignments have covered the areas of biotech, peptide chemistry, prostaglandins as well as immunology.

I was invited to a Gordon conference summer meeting (1988) in Massachusetts (USA) to orally present the data from one of my publications made during my PhD studies. At this meeting Immunex offered me a post doc position and I accepted the position and returned to Sweden to complete my PhD studies. This post doc position was later turned into a permanent position as a regular employee at Immunex. At the time Immunex was a leading biotechnology firm that focused its research to discover cytokines and cytokine receptors, with the goal to develop and launch these as protein drugs with the indication of arthritis, allergy, and asthma and cancer therapy.
