In my role as the BRIDGES Program Manager, I have given shape to a newly formed program, providing needed direction and vision for future growth. As part of my duties, I supervise a team of twenty student mentors as they support first-year students in their transition to college life, and act as a mentor to these upperclassmen as they continue to navigate college life. A major part of my role includes event planning and the development of new programming and engagement opportunities for the students to build a strong social network with one another as students identifying with one or more of the underrepresented demographic groups on campus. The vision for the program is to help these students retain their academic scholarships and gain their bachelor's degree, and in my second year I have created pathways to aid struggling students and promote their success.
