Pete earned his B.S. in Environmental Sciences at the University of North Carolina Asheville and his J.D. from Pace University School of Law in New York. While at Pace, Pete interned at the Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic, representing Waterkeeper in litigation to enforce thousands of Clean Water Act violations by coal companies in eastern Kentucky that were caught filing false pollution monitoring data.As an attorney for Waterkeeper Alliance, Pete represented the organization in litigation and provided legal advice for over 300 Waterkeeper organizations and affiliates worldwide, focussing primarily on Clean Water Act enforcement cases related to the coal industry. His initiatives included developing enforcement cases for illegal discharges from coal ash impoundments at coal-fired power plants and designing case-related GIS mapping resources.Pete began working at Earthjustice in January 2018, where he focuses on curbing pollution from coal mines and coal-fired power plants around the world.
