I soon showed a flair for all aspects of electronics in industry. Both my professionalism in dealing with customers and ability to diagnose machine faults with little information and no diagrams took me to the position of principal field engineer within 2 years. Working for a third party repair company provided invaluable and very diverse experience in all types of industry covering the midlands and North of England often with multiple site visits in a single day. In the field I would diagnose faults and repair on site where possible. Where the fault was found to exits on a circuit board or in a unit such as a drive or controller that would be taken to the workshop where I would repair to component level, test and return to site to complete the repair.
