As a hardcore data enthusiast and linguist, nothing feels better than tackling a complex data set or untangling a stubborn phonological system. These two passions first crossed paths during my Linguistics M.A. capstone project, when I had the chance to collect and analyze acoustic data from a speaker of Natqgu, a language spoken in the Solomon Islands of the Pacific. I found it extremely rewarding to draw generalizable conclusions about an understudied and endangered language using tools like R and Python. After this first taste of analytics, I knew I wanted to advance my data science fluency. This conviction has led me to North Carolina State University’s Institute for Advanced Analytics, where I’m polishing my data acumen with graduate training in data manipulation, visualization, modeling, and forecasting. I look forward to diving into the workforce and collaborating with other data science professionals to get to the bottom of our industry's most pressing challenges.Outside of my analytical pursuits, you can find me on the pickleball court or at the international grocery store, sifting through snacks for the perfect addition to tomorrow’s bento.
