Harare, Zimbabwe

In less than 3 years as General Manager and Head of Commercial for Zimbabwe and South Africa, fastjet, an African low cost airline, increased its fleet to 3 aircraft and substantially grew its frequencies on 4 new additional routes and destinations. The business is now highly successful within an extremely challenging and difficult business environment.

Kenya

Responsible for the delivery and success of the Travelport Global Reservations System (Galileo) throughout the West, Central and East Africa region. Managing a wide range of local distributors of the system, managing/supporting the established Travel Agency customer base and winning new customers across the region. Customer responsibility, contract negotiation, cost management and profit achievement for the whole region were key responsibilities in addition to driving the regional head office in Nairobi, Kenya.

South Africa

Joined Menzies Aviation as General Manager South Africa and assisted the Regional CEO and team to launch operations in South Africa at 3 airports. Appointed as Vice President Commercial Southern Africa, with responsibility for the relationship with many different global, regional and local airlines operating into and within South Africa including British Airways, Qatar Airways, Etihad, Ethiopian, Turkish Airlines, South African Express, Cathay Pacific, Kenya Airways, Swiss, and many more.Contract negotiation, service delivery, SLA performance, new product launches (airport lounges, cleaning/laundry services, equipment repair etc), profit achievement and championing the customer throughout the organisation were all key elements of the role.

South Africa

Managing and driving the Virgin Atlantic business within South Africa and Southern Africa regional countries. Achieving substantial passenger and revenue volumes and ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service levels across all areas of customer contact points including corporates and the travel industry.

Nigeria

Launched and established Virgin Atlantic's new route between London Heathrow and Lagos, Nigeria.Started with 3 flights per week which increased within 6 months to a daily flight. Ran the business and ensured that the Virgin brand values and customer philosophy were reflected in all parts of our business in Nigeria. 4 years promoting the airline, educating and establishing the reputation of the airline and selling to the corporate, diplomatic, governmental and travel agency communities. Included a great deal of media (press, TV and radio) interaction.Within 18 months of launch the route was profitable and continues to be one of Virgin Atlantic’s most profitable routes.

Held a variety of Country Manager, General Manager and Vice President roles for British Airways in many parts of the world including the UK, Ireland, Spain, Brazil, New Zealand, Botswana, prior to moving to the USA to take up the position of Vice President Commercial, Latin America and the Caribbean based in Miami.

A range of airport, sales and commercial roles with British Caledonian (BCal) in the UK, Africa, the Middle East and regional responsibility for Sales & Marketing for Japan and Australia. I moved over to British Airways when BA bought BCal.
