I graduated in 1987 and have spent my career in ground based civil engineering. I gained chartered membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 1993, started my company Peter Baxter Associates Ltd, in 1995, and have recently obtained an MSc in Advanced Heat Engineering. PBA Ltd is a small company comprising five personnel with a turnover of circa £400,000 before VAT.I have a good knowledge of ground investigation, earthworks and foundation design, slope stability, civils contracts and measurement, soils testing, and CDM. From my recent degree I am familiar with the design principles of thermal energy storage, district heat networks, heat pumps and heat exchangers.I have a positive attitude, and seek specific and measurable solutions to challenges. These attributes have been developed through many years of running an SME in the UK construction sector.Following a period as a site engineer with Tilbury Construction, I worked for Keller Foundations until 1992 as an engineer specialising in driven piling. From 1993 until 2013 I supervised, designed, and project managed landfill construction works, working initially as a freelance engineer, then from 1995 through my company for blue chip waste management clients. From 2013 the majority of my work has been in ground investigation and reporting. I developed quality management systems from scratch for my company for !SO9001 and ISO17025 accreditation. I developed my company's web based marketing with a consultant, which generates a steady pipeline of enquiries. We currently have a quote conversion rate of 33% and a 50/50 mix of retained and new clients.For the remainder of my career I want to use my experience and skills to develop civil engineering based solutions to climate change. In particular I am interested in thermal energy storage and mineral based carbon capture, working on a consultancy basis. I welcome contact from people or organisations active in these fields.
