I was the lead mixer on the KTLA Morning News, a highly-rated daily infotainment broadcast in Los Angeles and worldwide on the Tribune superstation. Known for its spontaneity, the show had four in-studio anchors, on-location reporters, two helicopters, live musical performances and variety acts. In addition to my technical and operational expertise, this format required intense focus combined with fluidity and a good sense of humor. One of my innovations was the creative use of sound effects to highlight or contribute to the interplay of the cast-members. I was instrumental in specifying equipment upgrades which opened up the show format, making it possible to anchor the show and feature guest performances from areas adjacent to the studio.An integral part of my responsibility was orientation and training in production techniques, operations and protocols for new crew-members as well as for producers and talent.Relief Master Control Operator.

My duties included selection and logging of appropriate underscore music for assorted team clips during highlight segments. As A1 mixer for General Hospital and Port Charles. I was responsible for production mixing of dialog tracks and integrating them with music and sound effects sub mixes. As Music Mixer I mixed upwards of thirty music elements per show under the supervision of music Directors to create an integrated music track for the shows.I was part of the development and execution team which transferred the entire West Coast Daytime Drama music library from analog tape cartridges to digital servers. This included establishment of protocols for consistent levels and distortion-free headroom specifications for the transfers.

Disney brought me on-board KCAL, their pilot venture into TV, to develop the audio style and physical infrastructure for their new three-hour Prime Nine News broadcast. As lead mixer for the station my responsibilities included sound design for the broadcast, design of anchor-desk sound baffles, multi-channel IFB circuits and a full-sized patch bay. My mixing duties included two hours of news every weeknight, plus pre-game and half-time shows for Lakers basketball, and highly acclaimed Prime 9 News Special Reports. We won Golden Mike awards for coverage of the OJ Simpson Trial, the Malibu Fires, Operation Desert Storm, and the LA Riots.Relief Master Control Operator.
