In this role I’m responsible for anyone living with a disability within the inner west and western suburbs of Sydney NSW, that require support within and around their own environments, I am a part of an active dynamic team with clinical, administrative and supervisory responsibilities. I am also responsible for all support workers supporting people within these areas. This involves ensuring contracts and codes are signed and up to date, Telephone inquiries, screening and accepting clients, coordinating home and health assessments. Site visits, allocation of staff, creation of client record, recruitment – telephone inquiries, screening of recruits, booking appointments, interviews, maintain agency personnel records/files and client medical records, reference checking, criminal record and working with children checks (CRCs), Coordinating Home Care personnel performance reviews,

I thoroughly enjoyed this work role. My duties included undertaking all risk assessments, mental capacity assessments, fire and health safety legal requirements, medication audits, medication ordering, staff management appraisals, individualised activities, rota and appointment management, holiday requests and to also regulate all staff training. Most importantly I worked in a person centred way, liaising with other healthcare professionals whilst adhering to data protection and confidentiality laws.

This work role involved acting up duties to the Home Manager position during times as directed by the company. Its role encompassed all of the manager duties as described above.

Whilst in this work role I completed my National Vocational Qualification in Care at level three. This house was tailored to the individual needs of a rehabilitation process. Service users followed a programme to enhance life skills and independent living. As a senior I projected the aspirations of the management team on to the staffing body with a clear focus.

I achieved my level two National Vocational Qualification in care. I enjoyed the direct hands on care approach but wished to develop further within my position to reflect the needs of the service user group. Whilst carrying out this full time work role I studied a full time hairdressing course. This demonstrates my commitment and enthusiasm to learn and to work.

This vibrant position in a eight bedded home introduced me to a variety of challenging behaviours. My training enabled me to work in a dynamic way. I knew I wished to progress in this field.
