An experienced Chartered Engineer (Electronics Engineering) who is currently seeking Permanent or Contract Engineering Management/Technical Management opportunities commutable from the Southampton area.

Led a team of 14 specialist Combat System Engineers to assure that complex naval electronic equipments and systems are integrated safely and efficiently to the Combat System. Responsible for ensuring that these systems performed to their design specification, were ready for acceptance into service and delivered on time. Chair various technical meetings (up to 50 people) and have budget management responsibility.

• Head of Department of a demanding engineering department of 40 engineers with direct accountability for £40M of complex naval electronic/electro/mechanical systems. Key manager in providing whole ship advice to the Commanding Officer to achieve and surpass strategic goals. Direct personnel management responsibility for the appraisal, training, career advice, welfare and assessing suitability for promotion of all borne electronic engineers and technicians. Key advisor to Command for whole ship, Explosives and radiation Safety.• Appointed as an interim senior engineering manager to provide leadership and technical competency for engineering department of 40 personnel for 6 weeks during a busy and stressful programme. Engineering and administrative business process was rapidly improved to assure availability of equipment and systems. Staff were motivated to take pride of ownership of equipment; receiving accolades from external inspecting authorities. • Managed at board level to achieve strategic goal of transferring entire Ship’s company (250 personnel) from one ship to another in an operational theatre. Directed all aspects of transfer of the Weapon Engineering department transfer of 45 engineering personnel, ensuring staff fully trained and then transforming and improving engineering and administrative standards; received accolades from external inspecting authorities. • Devised and implemented innovative engineering and administrative quality assurance regime to dramatically improve engineering standard levels with direct result of reducing engineering shortfalls by external authorities by 50% (1200 to 600 pick-ups per annum); this regime was adopted as best practice by other departments and across the Fleet. • Accomplished Public Relation Officer achieving award for best support to Navy News (2008).

• Developed and successfully conducted comprehensive multi-ship Sea Trials programme for a £3M Maritime Research Programme with direct management of 16 specialist engineers.• DSTL Project Leader resulting in delivery of the Dissemination of Tactical Knowledge and Maritime Tactical Network Command and Control research programmes.• Military Advisor and DSTL Project Leader for the delivery of future communication research programmes and ensure military requirement is understood.• Chairman of a Trials Working Group and a Security Working Group for stakeholders to ensure successful trials programme achieved with security compliance.

• Managed, delivered and assessed naval management and leadership training for up to 80 engineering UK and foreign National officers per annum. HR generalist and SME and mentor for technical projects.• Identified and re-designed engineering management training resulting in reduction of training pipeline from 13 weeks to 9 weeks (31% saving) achieving strategic goal of reducing training delivery and cost.• Served as key member of MOD wide Military Laser Safety Committee, teaching Laser Safety to Command and Executive courses and changed and implemented new Laser Safety policy by developing a safe method of work for testing and proving laser pointers are eye safe.• Designed and developed innovative Computer Based Training package for teaching Engineering standards to all senior and junior engineer officer courses.• Taught GCSE mathematics for 2 years – voluntary and in own time.

• Led and directed the delivery of Weapons and Sensors equipment to meet the operational requirement.• Responsibility for the medium and long term planning of Weapon Engineering Department during a ship 1 year refit period, including fitting, testing and trials on existing and new equipment and systems. • Accountable for the day to day management of equipment defects, liaising with external authorities as required ensuring prompt defect resolution or agreement of palliative solutions. • Implemented IT security policy for existing and newly fitted IT systems.

Initially a Radio Electrical Mechanic with extensive knowledge and diagnostic skills of: Weapon radar, Mainframe Computer System (ADAWS) and Shore communication equipment. Then completed a 2 year BTEC course and transferred to the Engineering Technician branch reaching the rank of Warrant Officer 2. Expert knowledge and diagnostic skills for the following equipment: ADAWS and CACS Command Systems, Mini-frame systems, Navigation and IFF radars and 2 tours with the In-Service Support team for CACS procurement project.
