2001 – Present Birmingham City University I am currently employed as a Programme Leader; principally responsible for the MSc in Quality Management, together with the teaching of quality assurance management modules on various programmes of study, including under-graduate and post-graduate courses. In 1986 I joined GEC Turbine Generators (Rugby) as a quality engineer, investigating technical failures and auditing suppliers to ISO 9000, this involved the preparation and presentation of many reports to executive management, including quality cost analyses. In 1987 I commenced a full time academic career at Coventry Technical College where I was a Senior Lecturer responsible for the Chartered Quality Institute courses and the National Certificate in Engineering

In 1970 I became an indentured technical apprentice for Rolls Royce (Coventry), during the thirteen years I worked for the company I was employed as a draughtsman and technical support engineer in the design office. I was employed for three years in the quality department dealing mainly with supplier quality assurance.
