My role as lead design engineer / assistant project manager in the UK's largest engineering and design consultancy has included the complete design for motorway communications on a wide number of schemes, attendance at progress/discussion meetings, and liaison with internal and external clients. I have excellent co-ordination skills… Show more My role as lead design engineer / assistant project manager in the UK's largest engineering and design consultancy has included the complete design for motorway communications on a wide number of schemes, attendance at progress/discussion meetings, and liaison with internal and external clients. Other activities include the production of technical documents and reports, generation of cost estimates for the study and design of subsequent technology schemes. I have excellent co-ordination skills and use them to great effect in my current role often alleviating senior project managers with project tasks. Schemes involved in as well as my individual role on the project are as follows:Design Engineer, M25 DBFO. Detailed design of the communications infrastructure for the M25 DBFO Widening J16 to J23 to allow for controlled motorway operation. Main duties include the design of optical fibre and copper transmission network across the scheme as well as incident detection, CCTV, emergency telephones and signal systems. Involvement with virtual reality model for the scheme representing the technology team. Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager, Ramp Metering Initial Deployment. Detailed design of the communications infrastructure for the ramp metering system for the first 30 sites to be deployed in the UK, duties included the site surveys for each potential site to determine the construction feasibility and integration with existing infrastructure. I worked on a wide number of projects at the design stage as the senior draught technician on projects such as the M25 and the A2-M2 communications upgrades. The two sets of drawings were created following specific client requirements and specifications. I had to work closely with the engineers on all projects and with background knowledge and design experience I became a key member of the team. In addition the use of Corel Draw and Adobe Photoshop packages were utilised during this role.
