UNIX Systems Consultant within a Managed Services Operation supporting both local and national clients. Technical responsibilities include delivering SLA’s, projects, patching, LDOM’S, NetBackup, reporting and associated technologies in a UNIX/LINUX environment. This managed services operation included a complete build of 20 RedHat Enterprise Linux servers in a VMware 4 system cluster and 8 backend Oracle database’s running on Solaris LDOM’s (Oracle’s VM) with EMC storage. The front-end consists of Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 5.8 on VMware virtual servers running Apache and Adobe Cold Fusion application server. The middle tier supports IDOL search engines, again running on RHEL VMware virtual servers. The back end is Oracle RAC running on Solaris virtual servers Logical Domains (LDOM’s).There is a DEV environment, a TEST environment, a STANDBY environment, a PROD environment and a DR environment. The PROD environment was built with high availability in mind with a checkpoint firewall cluster, dual cisco switches, dual web servers, dual IDOL search engine servers and dual Solaris SPARC servers running oracle RAC. Responsible for all the RHEL builds, disaster recovery testing, standby testing, bare metal recovery testing and implementing the backup software and policies using Netbackup. Another core component is the BAU work including patching, patching policies, change control, monitoring, reporting, capacity planning, weekly reports, storage management and overall health of the system. Other project work consisted physical to virtual conversions of legacy Linux servers to a new VMware ESXi virtual infrastructure and was the IT Change Control Manager.

Engaged by Sun Microsystems as a Proactive Service Engineer to deliver proactive services under the Sun Microsystems Advanced Services Operations. This position was based around Sun’s top five accounts in Western Australia. This Advanced Service is made up of Patching, Patching Policy, Risk Analysis, Data Centre Management, Best Practices, Systems monitoring and Upgrades. Part of this proactive service included Service Delivery Platform (SDP) and Automatic Service Request (ASR) which is an automatic call logging procedure with the relevant vendor and was referenced in the Weekly/Monthly account meetings. Was also involved with the High End tape storage products as a Systems Service Engineer to help maintain, configure, install and repair the Sun Storagetek SL8500/SL3000 tape library systems.

Other assignments requiring technical services included Department of Industry and Resource (Managed Services), Chevron (Administration), United Energy (RFP), Saint John of God (Dynamic Reconfiguration) and City of Joondalup (Managed Services).
