Recommended in The Legal 500 (2009/10 editions) for serious criminal defence work, I later diversified into planning, regulatory law and business defence. In 2009 I graduated with a distinction in my Master of Law degree (LL.M.) in Environmental Law at De Montfort University, winning both the environmental law prize and the prize for the best LL.M. student overall. My dissertation was on “The Prosecution and Sentencing of Businesses and Company Directors for Environmental Offences”.I sat for 13 years as a Recorder (part-time judge) in both criminal and civil courts before being appointed full-time to as a Circuit Judge in October 2016. Off duty, I'm never happier than when flying light aircraft. I'm also a very experienced scuba diver, a PADI Staff Instructor (involved in teaching other instructors), and a mixed gas technical and closed-circuit rebreather diver.
