Responsible for the implementation of the Police property/evidence facility; when operational, will receive, issue receipts for, classify, transport, store and issue all types of property, materials, equipment and supplies received or confiscated by the police department.Ensures the security and integrity of evidentiary items.Develops and implements unit goals, objectives and policies; develops and tracks performance measures; plans, organizes, directs and oversees the work of civilian staff, operations and programs to insure compliance with goals, policies and procedures; provides supervisory leadership and coaching to foster a strong, customer-oriented team; works with staff to redesign internal work processes to improve quality and efficiency. Receives impounded properties and evidence from Police Officers; releases property and evidence to designated personnel following prescribed procedures; performs physical inventories; works with possibly contaminated blood and property using protective equipment; works with other sensitive evidence and must understand and follow handling, retrieval and disposal procedures carefully.Collects, produces and maintains written documents; develops and reviews written reports and statistical data; maintains computer records on the disposition of evidence and other impounded property; sorts, separates, and arranges files and distributes incoming invoices and paperworkDelivers evidence to courts and testifies on the disposition of evidence when necessary; returns property to owners as required, and disposes of property in prescribed manner.

My duties included, but are not limited to, the following:Plan, organize, coordinate, and directed through appropriate police personnel, all police functionsincluding patrol, investigation, police communications, community and administrative services. Develop and directed the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the department. Created and instituted a new and comprehensive evaulative process.Worked closely with the Township Administrator and Council, other departments, a variety of public and private organizations, and citizen groups in developing programs and implementing projects to solve police service problems..Prepared and recommend long-range plans for police service programs; develops specific proposalsfor action on current and future department needs.Directed the preparation and administration of the annual budget for the department.Coordinated the preparation of a wide variety of reports or presentations for the Town Council and outside agencies

Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of sworn law enforcement staff involved intraffic and field patrol, investigations, crime prevention, community relations, and related servicesand activities; supervise non-sworn staff in dispatch, records, and property and evidence room asassigned.Serve as first level supervisor/Watch Commander for an assigned shift; prepare and administerbriefings; assign patrol beats; supervise and direct sworn and non-sworn staff and activities onassigned shift; conduct personnel, equipment, and building inspections.Prepare, process, and maintain a variety of written reports and records pertaining to assignedactivities including daily activity reports; complete payroll for assigned personnel for submission toFinance.Review incident reports, required forms, summons, records, and related documents prepared bysubordinates to ensure accuracy and timely completion; correct or instruct officers to makecorrections.Coordinate police activities with other units in the department, and/or other departments ordivisions; coordinate functions of the unit with other law enforcement agencies.Conduct a continuing review of assigned activities to identify problems and developrecommendations for improving services.Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules andmethods for providing effective law enforcement services; implement approved policies andprocedures.Interpret, convey, and ensure implementation of agency policies, procedures, and methods; ensure that personnel have clear guidelines of authority and responsibility.
