My background is as a GP, which has been the platform for my career progression into a number of clinical leadership roles. I set up BICS with my partners Jonathan Serjeant and Zoe Nicholson in 2008. We set out to provide a new sort of health care organisation, one that is able to bring primary care, community, social, secondary care, private sector, third sector and commissioners together, to design and deliver care pathways that are built around micro-populations of patients and their condition specific needs.BICS http://www.bics.nhs.uk/ has grown rapidly, and now provides a referral gateway for two CCGs, as well as a range of primary care and intermediate services including primary care IAPT mental health, and large prime contractor MSK services across East and West Sussex.We have three key objectives:- to provide people with the information and support they need to make informed choices about their health- to provide people with visibility of their health care journey, and the means to hold us to account- to shift resources into prevention and supported self management, and away from invasive procedures.
