Managing the supply chain of ColorMatrix Gas barrier additives ensuring quality, cost and working capital targets are met. The supply chain consists of up to 7 external & intercompany toll partners and internal resources in both Europe and USA. The multistep manufacturing process is complex and delivers global sales of $20M.

Role created in order to deploy lean manufacturing methodologies learnt in the UK facility across the other ColorMatrix manufacturing locations in China, North America & Latin America. This involved running multiple Kaisen workshops with the management teams in each region and making physical changes within the manufacturing operations.The lean tools were then applied to other areas and processes including laboratory, customer service and procurement.Standard metrics were then defined, measured and reported in each plant in order to drive continuous improvement

Responsible for all aspects of quality from raw materials to finished products, manufacturing processes, new product introduction and complaint management.Underwent extensive training in lean manufacturing methodologies including 5S, 7 wastes, value stream mapping, process flow analysis, this training was then applied across the manufacturing function to deliver value to both customers and internally to the business. Examples of improvements were first time pass increasing from 65% to 85% and on time delivery increasing from 75% to 95%, this led to awards from external bodies such as the Manufacturing advisory service (MAS) and The Merseyside Automotive Group MAG) for best in class manufacturing operation.

Dissertation explored 'What is Quality' and identified a correlation between quality performance and business performance.
