I have been delivering technology solutions since I started my career. This has been across different geographies, roles, industries and platforms. My career progression has mirrored much of how IT, as a business driver, has progressed. I started off with mainframe development and am now leading agile and digital delivery.This means that I have wide and detailed experience across key areas of delivering IT, working with some of IBM, Capgemini, Accenture and Capco’s largest clients:• Delivery - Programme Management delivery of large programmes of change across the software, retail banking and personal insurance sectors• Digital toolsets - Delivery of Robotic process automation, cloud Software/Platform as a service, user experience led development• Digital Delivery Methods - Using tools like Agile and DevOps to deliver business functionality quickly. • Package Systems - Develop, build, deploy and run global ERP, CRM and reporting systems • Regulatory - Interpret and design solutions to deal with major UK and EU regulations. From European Union Solvency Risk reporting to UK Retail banking switching programmes• Enterprise architecture and IT strategy - Using industry methods eg TOGAF to define roadmaps and software purchases to support business goals• Legacy development - How to write code, lead teams that write code and build systems on various mainframe and midrange platforms• IT Operations - How to build and operate global support teams to ensure Tier 1 system availability and performance I am excited that I will be involved in the next steps of digital delivery, even if I don’t know exactly where this will take me. I am interested in how we will be able to make practical use of digital toolsets, sprinkled with a liberal amount of delivery realism.
