Head of Architecture at George F. White. I am an award-winning RIBA Chartered Architect and Conservation Architect with more than 20 years of experience across a wide range of sectors, including residential, conservation and industrial projects. Educated at Dundee University, I subsequently took posts in Edinburgh and Newcastle upon Tyne. Latterly, I have become more focused on works to historic buildings, becoming qualified as a RIBA Conservation Architect and working on a range of listed buildings within the region.I lead a growing team of industry professionals providing architectural services across the North of England, based across eight offices.My current responsibilities are as follows:Design:- Site Assessments, feasibilities studies and scheme designs- The preparation of Planning Applications in co-ordination with in-house planning team- The submission of Building Regulation Applications in negotiation with Building Control OfficersManagement:- Over-sight of all staff within the Architecture Team and mentoring of Junior Staff- Contract Administration and liaison and co-ordination with sub-consultants during the design and construction process (structural engineers, M+E engineers, Ecologists, Quantity Surveyors, etc.) - Preparing and submitting fee bids and invoicing of clients- Taking lead on QA Office procedures for both Architecture and wider PAD team- Co-ordination of projects whilst acting as Lead Consultant- Liaising with Director(s) regularly at various stages of the project- The preparation of design and construction packages in co-ordination with other members of staffOther Specialties:- Qualified Conservation Architect. I am a qualified Conservation Architect, having carried out works on a variety of listed buildings. I have also applied this experience to numerous other projects where existing buildings are retained and upgraded/extended in a sensitive and sustainable manner.
