Before taking up my post as Coleherne Ltd’s managing director, in charge of manufacturing rotating equipment parts & industrial bearings for the engineering industry, I was employed by SAC Taylor Hitec – a manufacturing consultancy company. My main role was day to day management of projects including contractual requirements, financial control, liaison with clients & suppliers and some technical advice on specifications. I was responsible for some very large deals in industries other than engineering where my focus is now. Gas pipe coiling & fabrication of small fittings was the subject, not industrial bearings & laser cutting that Coleherne Ltd focus on.As Coleherne Ltd’s managing director I am responsible for selecting & supervising staff in laser cutting & manufacture of industrial bearings for various sectors of the engineering industry. My experience with SAC Taylor Hitec managing staff & sub-contractors was good practise for the staff management I undertake in my current position of managing director. Design detailing, fabrication & offering technical advice on manufacturing & assembly specifications were tasks I previously had to undertake was good experience for my current role offering technical advice about laser cutting, rotating equipment & industrial bearings to our engineering customers at Coleherne Ltd. During my time with Land Rover Ltd I performed several different roles, starting with responsibility for the quality control system and laboratory activities, and quickly moving to the dimensional assessment centre where I was principal engineer. My last role was in the Enhanced Technology department under the control of the manufacturing engineering director. I was one of a team assessing new technology and its possible benefits to Land Rover Ltd. in reducing manufacturing costs while still maintaining high quality. Projects were concerned with advanced engineering and manufacturing techniques. The company links with industry and commerce introduced me to the principles of fabrication and the importance of sound technical advice. I was lucky enough to have a practical introduction to laser cutting – one of the laser applications in use at that time. This was a valuable introduction to the CNC laser cutting we offer at Coleherne Ltd where I am the managing director.Coleherne Ltd supply bearings to the majority of rotating & reciperating plants focusing on rotating equipment.Another useful experience at Land Rover Ltd. was my work with aluminium and coated steels.
