Hi, I am currently working for the Essex Community Tree Network. Unfortunately and annoyingly, my current health situation prevents me from working to a level which most employers would require. So, when a close friend and colleague (with a sympathetic view to mine and others health problems) asked me to be the treasurer of this organisation, I jumped at the opportunity. Its an unpaid role. I feel that the work we do is of huge importance to the community. Especially in these uncertain times. Since August of 2020, there have been many changes to the Essex Community Tree. I had to dig deep in 2021 to take on the running of ECTN, as my health limits me to only a couple of hours a day. However, after Audrey Clark(founder of ECTN) retired in July of 2021, i felt that i had to take on the challenge. This service is too important to be left alone. I am proud of where we are as of 2023 and there are big plans for expansion in 2024. Health permitting. The main change us the building of a new website. Our current site is not that easy to navigate. Its now November 2023 and we think that we may have the funds to proceed.

So.......why is it that i run this Organisation(Website) and I don't work fulltime. The main answer would be consistency. My health has been up and down for years and sadly, as i get older, I am struggling to sustain the level of energy and health that would require me to do paid work. Anyway. Lets talk about the positive and not the negative. This work i do is very important. The website we run, supports some 90 organisations across Essex, by providing a single point of contact for members of the public to find mental health and well being support. Not only that. There are services to help with all sorts of problems that people face. The 90 plus organisations we work with, spread themselves across Essex, so that 90 become around 290 once you factor in the various areas that they work in. I am passionate about keeping the website updated and improved, so someone in need can find HELP. Its a ton of work and we really need paid staff. But hey, no money for that, so we soldier on. All volunteers have lived in experience of mental health issues, so we genuinely care about what we are doing.
