Spent 3 years with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells, Croydon office post graduation in 1986 before moving in 1990 to a 6 partner firm in Dorking Surrey where I led the corporate accounting/ auditing department. Mainly small owner managed businesses: accounts, business and personal tax and Co. House compliance.In April 1995 I was invited to join Lykiardopulo & Co.Ltd as Company Accountant. I remained here fulltime until December 2021. I was responsible for management and financial accounting, payroll, pensions and employee benefits, personnel matters and the smooth running of the admin of the office of 16-25 people. In my time the accounting expanded from just me to @6 people. A lot of the accounting effort was in processing transactions flowing into the accounting records of the ship owning companies managed by NEDA’.After 27 years I decided to put into effect my active retirement plans and started a new career in viticulture. I had gained work experience with local vineyard companies helping with pruning and harvest and completed the extensive Introduction to Viticulture course at Plumpton College in 2018/19. ( merit pass) I wanted to work more locally to home, be outside doing a physical job where I could learn new skills and hope to work into my later 60’s etc. Although delayed by the pandemic I started my 1st viticulture job at Greyfriars Vineyard, Guildford in January 2022. I work 4 days a week. This has been great experience of the vineyard seasonal jobs and given a broad exposure as we also help in the winery, post production and events departments.I am fortunate to have maintained my connections to the London office as I still give 1 day/ week to the owning company of the building at 66 Buckingham Gate London SW1E 6AU dealing with tenancies, refurbishments and the day to day running of the building.
