I am a research scientist with a particular focus on computational and molecular evolutionary biology. My research has focused on a few key questions of general interest in population genetics: 1) The role of spatial subdivision of populations resulting in evolutionary outcomes distinct from expectations derived from panmictic populations, 2) How genomes (either within the same species as happens with cytonuclear interactions, or among species as happens in host-parasite interactions) co-evolve, and 3) The implementation and development of methods needed to advance genomic resources for non-model and model biological systems effectively. The accomplishment of research goals in these three areas has included extensive use of both wet lab and dry lab methodologies, especially computational and bioinformatic analysis.
