I am the chief medical advisor to the Brigade Commander, advising him on medical threats to the mission, logistics necessary to conduct the medical portion of the mission, and the health, welfare, and deployability of over a thousand troops in the Brigade. One of the missions of this brigade is the protection of New York City from chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear, and environmental terrorism and acts of war.

Geriatrics is the field of medicine that specializes in treating the people who built our country, designed our clothes, technology, and industry, defined our culture, fought our wars, and raised our families. With more and more people living into their late 90s, Geriatricians take care of their patients for longer than most other specialties. Unlike other specialities, Geriatricians emphasize Quality of life over Quantity of life.

Tapestry Telehealth is a multi-specialty health-care practice that uses advanced technology to bring the integrity of a medical center --- including direct access to a team of physicians, specialists and behavioral health services --- to the patient’s bedside in skilled nursing facilities.

I am responsible for addressing the issues surrounding continuing care of senior patients discharged from the hospitals in our group, in an effort to prevent the need for their rehospitalization. Root cause analysis of the problems required development of relationships with skilled nursing facility administrators and medical staff, hospital administrators and nursing staff, and health corporation executives. Development of solutions requires an understanding of medicine, medical technology, medical documentation technology, and a constant awareness of newer communications and monitoring technology.
