Expertise includes governance, policy analysis and policy development in foreign and security policy, environment and sustainable development, humanitarian assistance and integration of gender perspectives. Combined many of these areas in an integrated approach to Sustainable Development Goal 16 on peaceful societies and the security/development nexus. Worked for 30 years for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in various capacities. Gained extensive multilateral experience from the European Union (as national delegate, serving three Danish EU Presidencies, and as seconded national expert to the European External Action Service - EEAS), NATO, the United Nations system (as national delegate in Geneva and New York, and earlier, from working within UNDP and UNIDO), the Global Environment Facility, as well as international civil society organisations and consultancies. Geographic experience includes the Middle East and North Africa, Central and West Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Established a successful track record in international diplomacy, multilateral governance, environment and sustainable development, as well as foreign and security policy. Acquired: • Extensive knowledge of: 1) European Union institutions, policies and procedures, in particular EU Common Foreign & Security and Development policies, programmes and institutional structures; 2) the United Nations system, its principal organs, agencies, the international environment and sustainable development system, its institutions, legal instruments, policies, procedures and operations; 3) NATO governance, policies and organisational structure;• Valuable experience in policy analysis and integration of foreign policy tools; in organizational analysis and strategic, results-based management; in the design and management of development strategies, programmes and projects; and in meeting and conference management;• Excellent negotiation and communication skills;• Sound judgement and strong analytical skills.Two academic degrees at master’s level, one in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School, and one from Denmark in Social Science and History (focus on international development). Committed team-player, promotes collaborative relations, can work independently, and maintains high standards under time pressures. Full command of English, German and Danish; proficient in French.
