STATEMENTMy design philosophy is the concept of minimalism, to do more with less. The practice of architecture is an opportunity for continuous learning. The translation of ideas on paper to built form is an act of continuous reinvention. We have all learned that buildings are the major contributor of the greenhouses gases on the planet. Sustainable design is the path to make our buildings, new and old, highly efficient, ultimately contributing more than they consume. Some of the technology may be new, but the underlying concepts are grounded in ancient philosophy. I am a generalist, collecting ideas from all quarters, applying the best ideas to each new design problem, following sustainable practices in each step along the path. From my teachers, mentors and heroes I have learned that form is best derived from function, that conceptual clarity brings aesthetic beauty, that there is joy in every step of our journey, that there is a time to teach, and that an ever-lighter touch will help heal this planet.
