Dr. Peter Gregor is a well-established presence in cardiology field in the United States. Special skills are Echocardiography, heart failure, valvular heart disease, pacemaker device followup and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. Dr. Gregor is a fellow with the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Gregor’s past experience includes cardiology practice in Gilroy and Morgan Hill, California. Throughout much of the 1980s and 1990s, he advanced the local standards of care for two hospitals and helped provide training to nurse practitioners and echocardiogram technicians. Dr. Gregor subsequently held a position consulting in non-invasive cardiology with Logan General Hospital in West Virginia. Completing training to obtain a Federal Nuclear Medicine license, he also served as clinical professor with Marshall University and the West Virginia School of Osteopathy. He is well recognized as a teacher of clinical medicine. He held a teaching faculty position for many years at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose California. He has also worked in Owensboro Kentucky, Palm Springs California and also in Arizona. In his spare time he is an artist who paints seascapes, and he supports Africa-focused humanitarian efforts through Rotary International. After approximately 40 years in cardiology in various parts of the mainland United States, Dr. Gregor is now the only cardiologist on the island of Saipan, in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, a Commonwealth of the United States. Saipan is to the United States what Christmas Island and Norfolk Island are to Australia, or the Falklands is to the UK, remote but populated with citizens who really need medical care. Needless to say, there are many patients with pacemakers, ICDs, prosthetic heart valves and other heart problems who are very pleased they no longer have to fly thousands of miles to receive state of the art cardiology care. Dr Gregor is the first full time cardiologist to have worked in Saipan in many years. For a cardiologist, this is a place where clinical skills with a stethoscope and echocardiography are paramount. There is no cardiac cath lab, no nuclear medicine isotopes and no skyhook helicopter to a tertiary university center. Saipan is a place where medical skills and dedication are truly appreciated, and where the rewards of service in such a beautiful environment give Dr. Gregor great happiness in the final years of a long cardiology career.

  As the only cardiologist on this beautiful island, I am being warmly welcomed by both patients and hospital staff. Saipan has a very interesting history especially in World War II. It is populated by very friendly people who like people anywhere have the usual diseases, but there are also some diseases such as rheumatic fever and its consequences that are more common here.
