US Patent 8,280,652; International Patent WO/2008/031029, “Sensor, Method, and System of Monitoring Transmission Lines.”Work entailed designing custom electronics and software for measuring electromagnetic field phases and amplitude. Wrote software in LabView on Linux.

Examples include laser tools to measure distance changes to an accuracy of 10 picometers for the Space Interferometry Mission (for finding extra-solar planets) and electronics for measuring radio frequency phases to one micro-cycle for the LISA mission (for detecting gravitational waves). U.S. Patent 7,511,469, “Phase measurement device using in-phase and quadrature components for phase estimation.” Responsibilities also included mentoring students and fresh talent.This work entailed designing electronic and electro-optic front-ends, real-time software design in C, C++, and LabView. Designed FPGA logic to demodulate digitized RF signals and extract phase information in real-time. Implemented control loops to stabilize optical phase.
