We do this in a collaborative and sustained way, using design thinking, systems thinking and other methods.

The Better by Design Study Tour is a world-class, immersive learning experience for New Zealand’s business leaders. I have been fortunate to participate in the design and delivery of 6 study tours that have proven to be life-changing for many of the participants.

Design Catalyst with NZTE's Better by Design programme. Partnering with many of New Zealand's leading design thinkers/practitioners/consultants, I worked closely with growth-oriented companies who are embracing design as a way to create significant competitive advantage for their business. This is a holistic approach; designing a purpose driven by a customer cause, designing a brand based on a compelling story, designing products and services that are underpinned by deep insights into end-users' needs, designing innovation processes, and designing how people work together.

San Francisco Bay Area

Design Thinking Coach for the Executive Education programme at Hasso Platner Institute of Design (Stanford d.school). Coaching senior executives from leading companies in order to grow their creative confidence and to nurture a mindset of being inquisitive about human needs, rapidly experimenting and radically collaborating.

Kanaama Interactive Community Support is a small but vibrant charitable organization that exists to support the people of a rural area in Uganda to improve their quality of life. We do this by working in partnership with local people to invest in and deliver projects that build capability, improve livelihoods and empower disadvantaged groups. Current initiatives include small business loans for women (over 250 loans have been disbursed since 2009), agricultural training for women (over 60 women have received training modules), smokeless energy-saving stoves (over 30 stoves built as demonstrations and over 70 stoves built by people following the demonstrations), and schooling for orphans and vulnerable children. I volunteered on specific projects/activities with KICS since 2010 before becoming a Trustee.

Brisbane, Australia

Design Manager for a design alliance in northern NSW covering a 7km rural highway duplication. Part of transport pursuit/bidding team. Completion of a number of road concept and planning studies in Queensland. Involved in internal change management projects.

Qatar

Projects included Lusail Development, a large scale city development for 200,000 residents, and concept designs for major highway upgrade schemes as well as subdivisions. Role included managing design teams located offshore. Also spent some time in a commercial management role. Involved in internal change management projects.
