Reading and reviewing book titles from Words Alive's recommendation list that is curated with help from volunteers, teachers, and community partners involved with the organization within and outside of the San Diego area. Reviews help to determine which books are added to Words Alive's program curriculum. Texts that are considered contemporary, diverse, relevant, and engaging are the main focus. Taken a leave of absence from teaching residency.

Provided whole class (Tier 1) support and after school tutoring for 33 students in same classroom at Earl Warren Elementary in southeast Sacramento for 2 years.Lead intervention support groups (Tier 2) for 13 students. 60% of students showed 30% or more growth in Math in end-of-year assessments and 100% of students remained on track with reading and writing goals. Collaborated with City Year's National Equity Action Council as one of only two serving ACMs in its Impact Programming Committee. Identified 6 key areas of focus to increase educational equity and opportunity amongst ACMs and their students. Facilitated Game Room at school site as an extracurricular incentive for students of grades 1 to 6. Supplied the room with video and board games by gathering school community donations and requesting input on improvements to the room by students and school faculty. Handled video game console maintenance and repair.Produced and presented 4 Diversity, Belonging, Inclusion & Equity (DBIE) sessions to peers at City Year Sacramento offices: (1) Unlearning Deficit Ideology, (2) Racial Capitalism, (3) The Limitations of Tolerance, and (4) Deconstructing Orientalism in Japanese and Western Pop Culture. DBIE sessions were presented as volunteer opportunities to promote peers’ social-emotional learning (SEL) through a social justice lens.

Collected over 20,000 mail-in ballots from 6 official drop-off areas for the 2020 presidential election from October 5th through November 3rd, 2020. Took inventory of remaining unused ballots and helped clean and maintain election equipment at a county warehouse in the week after the election. Supervised a team in a 1% Manual Tally to confirm the computer accuracy of all recorded voter ballots from a randomized 1% selection of all 207 precincts in the San Joaquin County (64,577 ballots from 24 precincts). Verified last-minute voter verification forms sent in-mail and processed over 15,000 mail-in ballots and envelopes by county area code numbers.

Read and graded coursework for 60+ students in three courses: African American History to 1877, History of the United States, & Law and Social Change Compiled and organized over 100 scholarly articles and texts related to African-Native American ancestry and civil protest on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Proofread and edited manuscript for book chapter on HBCUs: "The History of HBCUs: Lessons on Innovation from the Past" by Evan Wade in Reimagining Historically Black Colleges and Universities (2021) by Emerald Press.

Facilitated appointment-based tutoring sessions for students enrolled in English and History classes. Services included: brainstorming essay topics, crafting a thesis, reviewing sentence structure and grammar, proofreading, and teaching how to properly cite in MLA and APA formatting. Occasionally performed secretarial duties such as scheduling and confirming tutoring appointments, answering phone calls, and providing information to students who planned on using the college's Writing Success Center's services in the future.

Served as an embedded tutor within an accelerated English composition course for 30+ students of varying age groups. Course was themed around dystopian literature and critical thinking as defined through George Orwell's 1946 essay "Politics and the English Language."Engaged in learning and development (L&D) workshops with other MSI Leaders that developed my own teaching skills in preparation of presenting core writing concepts to students on occasion. Delivered presentations on how to properly format a Works Cited page and on effectively reading the graphic novel V For Vendetta (1989) by Alan Moore, one of the required course texts. Proofread student essays and provided constructive criticism. Facilitated one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions after class hours.
