In my fifteen years of teaching I have had the privilege of working closely with a range of educational professionals across a wide and diverse set of responsibilities. I have worked with and led several teams, enjoying the stretch and challenge of these roles as well as enjoying success.In my current role as Senior Lead Teacher I have regularly led whole school CPD, training staff in areas of Assessment for Learning, Kagan structures and marking. Each year I also coach several staff members, helping them through a process of observation and mentoring to become sustainably Good teachers.Last year my role broadened to involve transition. Through a series of events and after school activities held throughout the year, working alongside staff, parents and students from key primary schools, we successfully raised the school’s profile in and around the catchment area.In previous years I have led the Science department, and although much of my current role is whole school based I am still actively involved in the leadership of the science department with the overall responsibility for the students studying triple science. In this role I have designed schemes of work, monitored students’ performance and tailored interventions to help students meet with success. I have also played an active role in preparing for the oncoming of ‘Progress 8’ in 2016.I am proud of my achievements as a Science teacher. Over the years I have taught students from Keystage 2 through to Keystage 5 working with students across a wide range of Special Needs, including ASD. I am pleased to say that my lessons are consistently graded Good and above and in the last two OFSTED inspections my lessons were graded Outstanding.
