Experienced Land Use Planning, Assessment, Policy, Environmental and Management Professional. Suitably qualified and experienced, with appropriate interpersonal skills and temperament to be successful in a variety of senior strategic land use planning and management roles. I am fully appraised of current planning practice and legislation.Having progressed my experience as a development assessment planner with Baulkham Hills Shire Council and Lake Macquarie City Council during the 1980’s, I held the position of Senior Development Planner (Special Projects) at Wyong Shire Council for 6 years, responsible for all significant and contentious development proposals in one of the largest, most dynamic and fastest growing Council areas in New South Wales during the 1990’s. During this period (up to 2000), I regularly acted as Team Coordinator – Major Applications, including roles in work allocation, staff supervision and determining Development Applications as Chairman of the Development Assessment Panel. I subsequently managed the Rezoning, Policy and Natural Resources Teams over the following 7 years. I focussed on urban and environmental strategy planning, sustainability and management roles with Central Coast Council. I have driven the delivery of land and instrument based rezonings, coastal and environmental land and hazard strategies, and a broad range of policy and DCP development programs. My work as an independant Consultant Planner in private practice outside the Central Coast region over a ten year period has also increased my awareness of land development costs and risks, strengthening my broader understanding of the planning system. In November 2021, I commenced with Lake Macquarie City Council, developing rural lands studies, heritage protection controls and site specific rezonings. I am currently heading a team developing the Morisset Place Strategy, in accordance with the Hunter Regional Plan 2041.
