I had visited Barrow Island regularly since 2009 following the commencement of pioneer operations for the Gorgon LNG Project. As per our role outlined under the Barrow Island Act 2003 and CALM Act 1984, we undertook a regulatory role to the Gorgon LNG project, and a reserve management role on Barrow Island Nature Reserve and on the small surrounding islands. We managed a wide range of matters, including quarantine and biosecurity, tenure and wildlife management, rehabilitation and restoration, inter-agency and industrial liaison, and hosted tertiary sector research groups. We developed a wide range of plans, policies, operational guidelines and standard operating procedures unique to our role and our workplace. Major construction of the Gorgon Project was completed in January 2017, followed by a period of commissioning and gas production. Show less

Prior to moving to the Pilbara, I worked on the Kimberley Rainforrest survey program.In the Pilbara, I was a field-based biologist, working closely with colleagues in documenting the biodiversity of Pilbara conservation reserves. Also involved in major weed control operations, environmental management (eg water and wetlands at Millstream), and some heritage projects. Spent a lot of time on islands and in the western deserts. Continued to visit the Kimberley whenever I could.
