Peter Lesser has been executive director of the Empire State Plaza Performing Arts Center Corporation – AKA – “The Egg” - since August 2000. During this period, he has expanded programming intended to build informed audiences for the performing arts in the Capital Region and throughout the State of New York.The Egg hosts a variety of events including contemporary and traditional dance, music, theatre and family performances, featuring companies from across New York, the United States and around the world. In addition to its regular programming, the Center has developed several special projects to build new audiences for the performing arts while supporting the work of New York State based artists. These include “New Work, New York” which commissions and/or presents new or recently developed work; the “New York Living Legacy” project which explores the accomplishments of legendary choreographers, composers and musicians through a series of main stage performances and extensive outreach activities; and coordinates the activities of the New York State Presenters Network.Prior to accepting the position at The Egg, Peter was Managing Director of the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall and Executive Director of the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
