The aim of XTREME technologies is the development, manufacturing and marketing of high power EUV Sources and EUV Metrology for lithography and related applications in close cooperation with the parent company USHIO Inc., Tokyo, Japan. We delivered and support the first three generations of EUV sources used by ASML The major change for me in my role as R&D manager was, next to the continuation of former tasks, the integration of the Phlips and Xtreme employees in one team.

Philips EUV is a start up business creating and producing the very first Extreme UV (13.5 nm) light sources for EUV-based optical lithography scanners from ASML. My main task was to manage the resources (hiring, firing, allocation, coaching, development and appraisal) and the competences (identify, build, partners, supply chain). A secondary role was building the organization: Development process, Service proposition, Supply chain framework.Team doubled to 100 members with 65% flexibility. In 2009 downsized to 50- members without lay offs. Competences identified, distributed over 2 sites and partners. Several organizational processes introduced

Build teams with members from factory, development, and research to determine failure mechanisms and derive improvements in process, product, and/ or tooling. Significant yield improvements (10-20%) were achieved with projects to reduce press faults and tool lifetime increases.

Philips Glass manufactures a.o. glass parts for TV Tubes. My main task was the specification and development of a knowledge based system for the design of press tools using an Oracle relational data base and Unigraphics CAD as the major building blocks. The systems enables semi-automatic transformation of glass parts into press tools, taking into account experience from the past and included interfaces to/ from 3D measuring machines.

My main task was the introduction and support of FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis at development departments in Philips worldwide. In 1985 ANSYS was selected as major FEM system and promoted in the company. In 1989 more than 50 people were using the system, trained and supported by our team.
