Contract Support
Business Development Coordinator
Business Development Associate
Sales Coordinator
Head Of Administration
Sunrise Energy Solutions are a domestic energy company based in Birmingham primarily concerned with the sale and installation of solar paneling equipment for UK consumers but also biomass and wind energy. I reported directly to one of the managing directors and was responsible for answering prospective customers e-mails, handling phone calls from existing and prospective customers as well as liaising with suppliers. My role also included ensuring that the invoice process was adhered to as well as correct procedure regarding the installation of domestic energy equipment. I was also involved in the drafting of contracts, taking minutes at business meetings and the meet and greet of clients. I was responsible for ensuring that orders were smoothly transitioned from the sales team's initial point of contact sale to contract to installation to aftercare. Really rather satisfying.
English Language Tutor
Efl Tutor (Pt)
I began this role prior to business completely drying up in my former position. I had trained to teach English to adults in 2012 and had been awarded a qualification accredited by the University of Cambridge and decided that I would like to use it in my home town. I teach English a foreign language part time in Small Heath, Birmingham as part of an outreach called Talking Communities. The aim of this project is to reach people that for whatever reason may not engage in a conventional educational setting. I have found it immensely rewarding as roughly half of my first group are now involved in working towards formal qualifications and one has now got a job outside of his community, which is a first on this project.
Esl Teacher
After having gained my teaching qualification I went to Jinan in eastern China to teach in a language school. I taught mixed ages and abilities for roughly 30 hours a week. This took the form of small tutorial type of classes teaching to a set curriculum for 25 hours per week and five hours of lectures and presentations on subjects of my choice. While I enjoyed the day to day work I found the language barrier in my day to day life stifling and returned to the UK.
E-Commerce Manager
Trade electronix was a family run electronics wholesaler where I was responsible for the e-commerce side of the company. My main role ostensibly was the development, design and promotion of online retail, as well as supporting multi-channel marketing campaigns. This mainly took the form of eBay, Amazon and to a lesser extent Gumtree. I also worked with the wider business functions to ensure continuity across all customer touch points. In other words I needed to balance the wholesale side of the business with e-commerce, ensuring that there was some kind of link-up between what we were doing online and what we had been doing with longstanding trade customers. This required a high-degree of organisation, patience and communication.I tried to continuously improve online customer and user experience across all channels to improve conversion – to do this required a constant check on pricing levels and trends within the market. It was also crucial to be pro-active in fixing and resolving issues. Prioritising projects was of vital importance due to mixture of trade and online retails in an environment that had been purely trade and informal for decades
Transport Planner
I worked for Network Rail within a small team managing for the most part the Manchester to London Piccadilly line. We worked to rigid targets with the aim of ensuring that delays were minimised while also facilitating that necessary engineering works take place. This involved excellent communication skills dealing with engineers under contractual obligations to satisfy certain criteria, as well as meeting the needs of train operating companies who were responsible for the day to day business of meeting public needs. As well as this we needed to work within the National Rail Framework ensuring that delays due to human error were practically eliminated. Organisation was also important as this was data-heavy work involving checking timings and graphical representations of train lines on a minute by minute basis to daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly targets and projections.
Customer Service Representative
I initially worked in the outbound sale of gas and electricity for this outsource company before moving to data verification in the French business market and eventually to Motorcycle News Account where I spent two happy and productive years. The latter role initially involved inbound small ad bookings and cross-selling of larger ads, highlighting etc. It evolved to include customer service through the media of e-mail, post and telephone, as well the updating of the classified section of the website and importantly the weekly transfer of all advertising data to the publishers in Leicester – this responsibility I enjoyed.
Revenue Protection Team Leader
This position involved leading a team of revenue protection and ticket inspectors at New Street Station when the barrier was first implemented. Communication was the most important part of the job. Good listening skills were invaluable when diffusing a situation. In terms of team leading, this was more challenging generally than dealing with the public – it involved a good degree of organisation and patience!
