Why has productivity fallen despite a quantum improvement in technology? A gap in capability in developing an improvement culture is one of the major reasons. Leaving improvement and transformation to specialists is not sufficient. It must be a core skill of our leaders at every level.I coach, guide, assist and directly lead businesses in improving productivity through three (often concurrent) steps: "run, improve and sustain".One of my specialities is assisting businesses getting their transformation or improvement program back on track whether it is a simple refresh, a renovation including or even a rescue.The approach is based on the principles of Lean, Six Sigma, TQM and Agile without hype or jargon coupled with the very best of models from of leadership and strategy. These methodologies and models are distilled down into plain language making it accessible, practical and sustainable to people whether their challenges are at the strategic or operational level.One of the advantages I bring is my first-hand experience, I have led large and complex operations myself. Here are some of my achievements in my career.Led the deployment of “Lean” (Operational Excellence) across Telstra by focusing on skills uplift of middle management leading to achieving large quantifiable financial benefits yet increased both customer (NPS) and employee satisfaction (EES).Drove a companywide cost reduction program across Sydney Water ensuring prices reflected value for money, through a process of individual cost reviews with each executive and their team.Developed and facilitated the five-year Sydney Water Corporation strategy gaining approval from both Managing Director and Board through directly facilitating executive workshops and personal research.Gained the trust and approval of a Telstra Group Executive for an alternative lean deployment approach by presenting the business case through his preferred communication style resulting in consultancy savings.Successfully led large operational businesses and workforces in mining and petrochemicals through developing empowered leaders and teams meeting operational budgets of >$50m fixed costs and >$200m variable costs with over 150 FTEs reporting to these roles.Contact me and we can chat further.
