Develop players to achieve their best in a professional rugby setup while maximizing academic pursuits.• Seek continual improvement through ongoing coach education, and other personal and professional rugby development opportunities.• Provide players with planned and structured training programmes appropriate to their needs and goals• Assist in producing a calendar of events incorporating all rugby development programmes, events and all Union fixtures • Work with the sports department in various initiatives, in particular bridging promising players from junior level player development to high performance player development programmes • Ensure scholarship students in the rugby team perform both in studies and in the team to sustain the scholarship program• Organize and facilitate a range of tackle and non-tackle based rugby tournament opportunities for players to give junior players rugby opportunities and a first experience of rugby• Identify player recruitment and retention opportunities and assist the university to implement them• Implement rugby programs and ensure all players are registered and entered onto the Kenya Rugby Union database• Ensure all University policies are adhered to and a professional service is delivered to stakeholders • Attend staff meetings and planning sessions• Support other Union staff in the achievement of the University Rugby Plan and University strategic Plan

• Liaising with and answering inquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone and email for rugby club individual player’s exposure;• Seek continual improvement through ongoing coach education, and other personal and professional development opportunities.• Provide players with planned and structured training programmes appropriate to their needs and goals.• Seek advice and assistance from professionals when additional expertise is required.• Maintain appropriate records.• Adopt appropriate risk management strategies to ensure that the training and/or competition environment is safe.• Ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards.• Ensure equipment, rules, training and the environment are appropriate for the age, physical and emotional maturity, experience and ability of the players.• Show concern and caution toward sick and injured players.• Allow further participation in training and competition only when appropriate.• Encourage players to seek medical advice when required.• Provide a modified training program where appropriate.• Maintain the same interest and support toward sick and injured players as you would to healthy players.

• Planning, developing and implementing public relations strategies for KCB rugby club on club exposure and participation in CSR activities ;• Liaising with colleagues and key spokespeople and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone and email for rugby club individual player’s exposure;• Researching, writing and distributing and social media monitoring of press releases to media fraternities i.e. blogs ( http://petermutai.blogspot.co.ke/ ), newspapers, social media sites, etc;• Devising and coordinating photo opportunities, collating and analyzing media coverage;• Maintaining and updating information on the club’s social websites, organizing events including mentor-ship exercises for senior-junior players, exhibitions, open days;• Managing and updating information and engaging with users on social media sites such as Twitter and Face-book;• Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities;• Fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives;• Managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation i.e. supervising disciplinary sessions, mitigation of negative media exposure;
