Conducted research in Dr. Robert Beelman's laboratory focused on the development of methods to enhance the levels of important bioactive components of cultivated mushrooms in order to improve their nutritional/and or medicinal value. For example, commercially practical methods have been developed to enhance the levels of selenium, ergothioneine and ergocalciferol (Vit. D2) that can make mushrooms, or products containing mushrooms, the best sources of these compounds in a plant-based diet. Other projects included investigating the effects of these compounds on general health as well as athletic performance.

Worked with high school, collegiate, and professional athletes training to improve their performance in their respective sports. Programs were aimed at increasing strength, improving speed, agility, and conditioning, as well as bettering overall athletic performance and preventing injury.

Assisted in running workouts and coaching athletes. Responsible for collecting strength and conditioning research and integrating it into the strength and conditioning program, as well as learning about and using the latest technology in monitoring fatigue and performance. Coordinated efforts to establish investigative studies with the Department of Kinesiology.
