• Managed World Bank programs in fourteen countries in Africa, the former Soviet Union and South Asia• Led or co-led development of Country Assistance Strategies for Nepal, Bhutan, Armenia, Georgia, Zimbabwe and Belarus• Led a $20 million multi-donor TA in Zimbabwe to help improve governance, land management, agriculture, and infrastructure • Managed all aspects of the work of a five-country Department in Southern Africa and its US$2 billion portfolio• Responsible for the quality and results of planned and active programs and projects • Managed HR processes for a large Department as Interim Director• Helped facilitate Government/NGO/private sector/development partner workshops in four of the countries to promote innovative program finance mechanisms• Led a team helping to develop a proposed 15-year bond financing for the $850 million purchase of the Cahora Bassa hydro-power plant in Mozambique, using a South African SPV and accompanying partial risk guarantees• Led a dialogue between the private sector, CSOs, development agencies and the Govern¬ment of Mozambique on increasing private sector financing • Led the World Bank's preparation for reengagement in Zimbabwe, including representing the Bank at high-level development partner conferences• Conceived and developed a ground-breaking workshop on poverty alleviation strategies for officials and NGOs from all the low-income CIS states • Helped move the Bank’s approach to development in Nepal towards a more adaptive approach that took greater account of community dynamics•
