Peter is a Health Economist/Public Health Specialist working with the Danish International Development Assistance (Danida) in Kampala, Uganda. He is interested in health system reforms, development and strengthening; particularly in health financing reforms that seek to increase the pool of available resources and those that aim to control costs and use of resources more efficiently. Secondly, Peter is interested in health and HIV/AIDS sector policy and strategic planning which is currently forming the bulk of my work with Danida. Making strategies work is still a difficult developmental undertaking and also one which is becoming a focus of attention in the face of dwindling global resources for health.Peter is interested in aid effectiveness issues; donor coordination/harmonization and alignment. He has been central in the policy dialogue regarding this in respect to Denmark’s development assistance to Uganda. Another of his interests is in health impact assessment programmes/studies and also in evidence and information for health policy. Lastly, he is an assistant editor of a policy journal; Health Policy and Development and he is also involved in publishing health policy related articles, policy research. He has so far published 2 papers/articles in this journal.He is now currently working with the Danish International Development Assistance (Danida) as a Senior Programme Advisor for Health and HIV/AIDS. My main responsibilities are participating in the health and HIV/AIDS sector SWAp process; participating in policy, strategic planning and technical dialogue with Government of Uganda and Development Partners/Donors on health and HIV/AIDS; participating in policy and technical dialogue with Government of Uganda and Development Partners/Donors on Aid Effectiveness; administering and monitoring the implementation of the Danida support to the health and HIV/AIDS sectors.
