I entered this world on May 10, 1962, in the city of Diksmuide, West Flanders, Belgium.You didn't have to go to the clinic unless you really needed to because there was still a "mother house," as they are known in Belgium.After my mother gave birth there, the hospital permanently closed its doors.No one here had a tumultuous upbringing, but once we hit school, everything changed. Starting in the first grade,I was devastated when my mother took me back home from "school." When compared to my older sister, this was the polar opposite. It's not a bluffing strategy, but I was a good student and picked up a lot of useful skills while I was playing.While other kids had to put in long hours of studying to get the materials processed, I and a few others went outside to play football or go fishing.After turning 18, I had to make a decision about my future educational pursuits. It was a tough decision for me to make. Of course I want to, but then I remembered my parents' money problems...Later on, however, my dad encouraged me to pursue my goals because he believed I had more to offer. Among all the presents he gave me, that one stood out as the most thoughtful. I made sure I didn't let him down.It made sense to me to spend two years in college learning about computers.Very quickly, it became clear that "playing" wasn't going to get me there any longer... It was difficult, and the dry, theoretical material in particular sent me to sleep.
