Adaptation And Resilience Researcher
CurrentEcovillages model the sustainable societies we want to bring into existence, integrating social, ecological, economic, and cultural regeneration as well as both inner and outer transformation. For decades, they have experimented with ways of avoiding social and ecological unraveling by creating joyful alternatives. This project is an exploration of how the ecovillage movement can scale its contributions to build capacity and multiply robust community-led approaches to radical and grounded regeneration, adaptation and transformation in the context of a 2.5+ degree warming or polycrisis. Together with 20 ecovillages from 20 countries spread across all inhabited continents, we are doing a resilience assessment of current practices, a deep dive into the realities of a hothouse earth, and coming up with diverse and just pathways for navigating the coming decades, reflecting deep respect for all life, and grounded in both science and heart.
