Joined Barclays as a late entrant from the legal profession. Experience included "running his own business" as a Branch Manager answerable for his branch performance at all levels, including profitability, staff development, training and selection. Also worked in the Regional Head Office in an HR role.Later as a Corporate Manager, he gained wide experience of diverse businesses. Clients were predominantly SME's / owner-managed companies but included UK subsidiaries of overseas parents, professional partnerships and offshore companies. Turnover typically fell in the range from £1m to £25m.Has considerable experience of helping corporate management to react appropriately to economic, market and industry life cycle changes as well as extending assistance in a wide variety of business areas including financial shortcomings such as over-gearing, inappropriate structure and management of working capital.The cross-over to working in the voluntary sector has been rewarding and in many areas of his present role, his skill set continues to be of relevance where financially positive outcomes are fundamental to the continuation of essential services for needy older people.
