The role oversees programme leadership and management of the FHFNZ programme in the prevention and treatment of avoidable blindness and vision impairment across the Pacific region including PNG.

Timor-Leste

This role represents the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP) in Timor-Leste, which comprises CARE International, Caritas Australia, Oxfam, PLAN International and World Vision. The AHP has a strategic partnership with the Australian Government, DFAT, in Timor-Leste and has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Timorese Government's Ministry of Interior which oversees Disaster Risk Management. The AHP currently works in a consortium to implement the nationwide, DFAT funded Disaster Ready Project.

Timor Leste

Organisational leadership of CARE International’s presence in Timor Leste. Establishing strategic direction; building partnerships/ networks with government, civil society, donors, private sector and across CARE International. Management oversight of country team including programs and program support for a country portfolio incorporating Gender Equity, Education, Maternal Health, Climate Change Adaptation, Livelihoods, Community Vulnerability Capacity Assessments, and Humanitarian Preparedness and Response. I am a member of CARE Australia's extended Senior Management Team (7 years);and the CARE Australia Risk Management Committee (2 years).In 2016, I led CARE International in Timor-Leste (CITL) through a CARE International Presence Review –a comprehensive strategic review process. I am now supporting the team through a change management process including coaching and mentoring national staff leadership, developing a social enterprise through our flagship Lafaek Project to enhance impact and sustainability, and preparation for local governance and management of CITL.

Timor-Leste

In 2015/16, I led a consortium of INGOs to complete a national drought assessment and to design and implement a national DRR program responding to the El Nino drought in Timor-Leste. This group led advocacy with government, UN, donors and key stakeholders to mobilise a response to the drought. I am currently the NGO Co-chair of the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) in Timor-Leste.

Member of the CARE International POC which is a committee reporting to the Excom of the CI Board. Members are drawn from senior CI roles globally. The POC oversaw strategic priority matters relating to programming and operations throughout CI's work internationally. During my term on the CI POC the body took a lead role in supporting the global CARE International 2020 Transformational Change Process.

Papua New Guinea

Organisational leadership of CARE’s presence in PNG including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. Establishing strategic direction; building partnerships/ networks with government, civil society, churches, donors, private sector and across CARE International. Management oversight of country team, policy, finance, partnerships, program quality and risk, and safety and security, for a country portfolio incorporating Gender Equality, Governance, Sexual Reproductive and Maternal Health, Climate Change Adaptation, Education, Livelihoods and Humanitarian Programming, Including the flagship Integrated Community Development Project (ICDP). I helped to build Country Program from modest start, tripling in size to develop an effective, high quality and sustainable development and relief operation.

Papua New Guinea

The IDC is a forum the key International NGOs operating in PNG. The Council meets formally on a quarterly basis and facilitates ongoing networking. It provides opportunity for information sharing, mutual support and collaboration, and joint action toward shared goals. Examples include formal engagement with the GoPNG, operational and safety and security support, sector-wide salary surveys, joint negotiation with suppliers, and combined advocacy initiatives.

Papua New Guinea

Sectoral coordination, leadership, management, technical support and design, financial management, quality and risk, overseeing implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting of complex, multi-site SRH/ HIV and AIDS program. Building partnerships and networks; personnel management and professional development of staff. I helped build and lead the country’s largest NGO HIV and AIDS prevention and support program in advocacy, community mobilisation, research, clinical service delivery, and capacity building, including the Poro Sapot Project recognised internationally by UNAIDS as a best practice approach.

Asia Pacific Region

Management/ Technical Support Role with VSO International in Asia/Pacific Region comprising following placements:Country Director, VSO Kiribati (8 months)Leadership and management of VSO Kiribati volunteer program, overseeing finance, head office and staff and all volunteer placements; development/ maintenance of partnerships with government and key partners. Health Program Manager, VSO Indonesia (6 months)Extensive touring duties in Java and NTT to build local partnerships and support and manage volunteer placements. Input was focused within the health sector, including a rewarding visit to West Papua to support HIV and AIDS sector of VSO’s work.Health Consultant, VSO Vanuatu (2 months)Supported the design and development of HIV and AIDS program. Work focused on intensive liaison with government, stakeholder partners and volunteers, and development of resource materials and trainings widely used by the country program.

Papua New Guinea

Management and strategic development of the Highlands Volunteer Program, including partnership management; fund-raising; orientation and training; and associated touring, financial and administrative duties. Part of a three-member senior management team which in 3 years transformed the Country Program from decline to a vibrant and strategically focused development program. Led development of a national HIV and AIDS project, which became a model for volunteer agencies in Pacific region. One-month secondment to VSO Vanuatu to lead strategic planning.
