Started my Placement year on the 1st of July 2024So far, I have worked as a Project support design engineer, taking issues from the floor and running them through the ECR and ECN process, as well as undertaking the task of completing certified drawings for customers, modelling different hydraulic components, researching methods of cost saving as well as taking this through to suppliers and the purchasing team. I have also had the experience of being on site with the service engineers after designing a retro fit kit for a machine out in the field to change its function.

Worked as a welder and fabricator in a busy agricultural engineering company- here I gained skills such as welding, time management, working in a team and gaining valuable knowledge about the design to manufacture process. I also spent time as a final assembly fitter when not welding, gaining great satisfaction in seeing many projects through to the customer. I also gained an insight into some site work. Personal Projects undertaken were the welding of a 4000 gallon slurry tanker, producing the steelwork for house extensions and an 8 bay lean to cattle shed, making manhole covers for a slurry tank to ISO standards to meet grant specification. Many other projects were undertaken.

Operated an Oerlikon CNC plasma cutter, nesting sheets on the computer programme, loading the bed and cutting all the necessary pieces required for the kits for various machines and machine types, using other equipment such as the press brake bender, guillotine, steel rollers and other pre work equipment.
